How do I renew something I checked out?

If a due date is coming up for an item you'd like to borrow longer, you can often renew the loan. To view your library account information, go to the library catalog and sign in using your campus email. Under "My dashboard," choose "Holds & checkouts." For items that are eligible for renewal, click "Renew." Alternatively, you can request renewals by replying to the reminder email or by calling the Circulation Desk at 573-592-4289. For assistance signing in to the catalog or requesting renewals, contact the Technical Services Librarian

What should I do if I have a fine or block?

When items are overdue, lost, or damaged, patrons can accrue a balance. Depending on the frequency or amount, it might also result in an account block. Often the balance can be resolved by returning items in good condition before the library sends billing information to the Business Office. In the case of lost or damaged items, paying the replacement or repair cost will usually resolve the issue. For more information, see the library's policy on Overdue, Lost, or Damaged Items. For assistance with a bill or block, reply to the notice email or contact the Resource Sharing and Administrative Specialist

Can I hold an event in the library?

Yes, a variety of events, such as LEAD events, are held in the library. The only reservable event space in Dulany Library is the auditorium. An employee can host the event and request the space in Owlnet according to university procedure. For more information about using the auditorium, see the library's Building Use policy. For questions about holding events in the library or using other library spaces, contact the Library Director

How do I find peer-reviewed scholarly articles?

The requirement to cite peer-reviewed scholarly articles can often appear in research assignment instructions. If you start with a search in the Woods OneSearch box at the top of the library website, you can then filter the results based on the types of sources your assignment requires. In this case, you can check "Academic Journals" under Source Type and press the button for "Peer Reviewed."

Is the chat a bot?

No, the chat service is live help. During business hours, the chat is answered by Dulany Library staff when available. During evening and weekend hours, the chat is answered by other librarians.

What if Dulany Library doesn't have what I need?

Dulany Library has resource sharing memberships that allow us to borrow and lend with many other libraries. You can use the MOBIUS Catalog and WorldCat to search for books and other physical materials to request. You can also use Woods OneSearch to find requestable articles in our databases. For more information about resource sharing, see Interlibrary Loan. Alternatively, you can recommend an item for the collection using the Suggest a Purchase form.

Does the library have my textbook?

Maybe. The library generally does not add textbooks to its collection, but sometimes we will have previous editions. Search the catalog to see if your textbook is available. We can also request your textbook if another MOBIUS or WorldCat library has a copy. Alternatively, you can ask your professor about providing a course reserve copy at the library. Please note that most library books loan for about 30 days, so you wouldn't be able to borrow the book for the entire semester.
